39 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. 40 But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way
1 Cor 14:39-40
Paul here adamantly states that we should not be afraid of spiritual gifts, particularly those that may be different or seem ‘weird’. However, we should always be aware that God is not hoping to bring confusion or hurt when spiritual gifts are being utilised in the body of Christ. Spiritual Gifts are used for the building up of the Church, not dividing it and causing offense. Therefore it is the responsibility of the Christian to seek the gifts of the spirit to take part in the building up of the believers, but also to make sure that the application of these gifts follow biblical and Godly wisdom as to ensure that they are done in a ‘fitting and orderly way’.
Do you know what your spiritual gifts are? God wants to utilise each and every Christian to build up the body of Christ for the glory of God. When we learn our spiritual gifts it can be scary to know what to do next, the best thing is to study their references in the bible and fine someone to give us wisdom and experience with how we are best to operate in them. Everyone has a place to serve, build up and love the body of Christ, do you know how God has gifted you?
Holy Spirit, thankyou for the gifts which you have entrusted to each of us. Continue to guide, shape and mould how I use these gifts that the body of Christ might be a edified because of them
