3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 6 And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.
2 Corinthians 10:3-6
Paul dilineates a difference between the ways of the world and the ways of God. The weapons we fight with attack the greater spiritual forces that cannot be seen. These weapons dismantle strongholds in thoughts and hearts, teaching us how to make them obedient to God.
Often it can be hard to control our minds, but when we recognise that this is the main battlefield in which the enemy works sowing deceit and lies we can begin to recognise how God, by the power of his Holy SPirit has graced us with the ability to battle these things. Every thought we think, if it is hurting us, we bring before Jesus and ask ‘Is this thought with you’ if it doesn’t line up with biblical truth then we can choose to feed it or starve it. We starve it by feeding our hearts and minds on the biblical truth of God’s word.
Father, teach me how to wage war with the weapons of the Holy Spirit not just resisting the devil with my physical flesh. Open my eyes to see the battle that rages and teach me how to take part!
