Acts 27:34-36 (ESV)
34 Therefore I urge you to take some food. For it will give you strength,[f] for not a hair is to perish from the head of any of you.” 35 And when he had said these things, he took bread, and giving thanks to God in the presence of all he broke it and began to eat. 36 Then they all were encouraged and ate some food themselves.
I admire Paul’s total confidence in God’s word. Even when everyone had given up hope of surviving, Paul was confident enough in God’s word to tell everyone they would survive and then give thanks to God in front of them.
When I hear God speak to me and I read his promises in the Bible, do I trust him at his word? Like Paul, I can choose to trust in the Lord and not lean on my own understanding of the situations I may face. I wonder what opportunities God will give me to demonstrate my trust in him in the presence of unbelievers when all hope seems lost.
Lord Jesus, thank you for the boldness you have given me empowered by the Holy Spirit to not only share the good news with others but to also demonstrate my trust in your plan and your will. For I know what lies ahead as a of child of God. Of this one thing I’m sure, you began the good work within me, and you will continue the work until it is finally finished on the day when you return. Hallelujah!
