At Newlife, our vision is to see MORE PEOPLE MORE LIKE JESUS. Have you ever wondered what that really means? Wondered what would it look like for us to be disciples who make disciples - a church so passionate about our Saviour the world can’t help but join in? Being more like Jesus and seeing more people like Him starts with us: take your everyday, ordinary life - your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking around life - and place is before God as an offering. In discipleship, we’re committing to the BECOMING: broken and dislocated pieces coming together in vibrant harmonies, properly fixed and fit together, all because of His death, resurrection and eternal promise. No more hiding, it's time for refining. WE ARE BECOMING.

A message from our Lead Minister,
MICHAEL HANDS

Many years ago I was lost. My heart felt dry and in disarray. My life, on the outside, looked fine but there was something happening deep within my soul – I was not ok. I was a ‘Christian’ but I was not following Christ. In desperation, I asked for prayer from my pastor. After a moment of waiting on God together, he paused and said, “Michael, I get the sense it’s time to commit to reading your Bible.’

I have to be honest, this was not the ‘word from heaven’ I was hoping for. The clouds did not part, God’s voice did not boom through and I left church that day much the same as I had entered. But then I thought, “What do I have to lose?”

I began to read the Word of God. Initially, it was a struggle, but daily I deliberately and habitually spent time reading the words that have been a wellspring to Christ-followers for millennia. Something began to shift deep within my soul as the truths of God slowly moved from my head to my heart. I have never been the same.

My heart began to cease its striving, to trust the still, small voice drawing me closer and leading me toward becoming more like Jesus. He extends this invitation to all of us: to daily lean in and turn our attention to the story and words of the One who loves us enough to give His all, that we might receive all we did not deserve.

Two thousand years ago, a carpenter-turned-Rabbi stood on the shores of Galilee and beckoned to a few ordinary fishermen, ‘Come, follow me.’ These tradesmen, dropped everything, changed their course and followed the One who called them out of the story of man and into the story of God. Their lives, and the world, would never be the same. Yet again Jesus stands on the shores, not of Galilee, but our hearts, beckoning us to follow, learn His pace, know His story. From its beginning in Genesis, to its culmination with His return, will we choose to walk in His way? Will you follow? Will you become? He is calling and His Word awaits.
