Colossians 3:1-4 (ESV)
1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your[a] life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
The message version has an interesting interpretation of this verse: “So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is.”
Wow! What a promise we find here. Again Paul is encouraging use to set our minds on Christ. For when Christ appears we shall appear with him in glory. It seems that Paul was ‘Jesus obsessed’! I wonder what ways in my life do I display the same desire and focus on Christ. In the songs I sing, the prayers I pray, and the way I treat others. Do my actions lead others to Christ? It’s a heavy question, but a healthy challenge.
Lord Jesus, you are… Lord! You are King. You are God. You reign forever and ever. Thank you for your grace in taking sinners like us and adopting us into your family. In this hope we were saved, the adoption as children of God and the redemption of our bodies. For the rest of our days, lead us, guide us and move us to know you more and become more like you.
