But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42
There is so much we can take from this passage of scripture. Something that stands out to me is Jesus is clearly stating what is most important in life – relationship with Him. We also read in Luke 4:4 Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God and John 6:63 It is the Spirit that gives life. The flesh is of no help. The words I speak to you are spirit and life.
I saw a phone app recently which shows you how much time you spend each day on your phone. It also broke it down to exactly what apps you were using. For example 56m on phone calls, 45m on facebook, 26m on youtube, 58m on the internet, etc. It made me think, I wonder what it would record if it measured my time each day with God. Even more importantly, how focused was I with that time. Just as in any relationship it’s not necessarily the amount of time, it’s the quality of the time spent.
Lord help me to quiet my mind, so I can hear from you this morning. Help me to be still and focus on simply being in your presence today. Amen.
