Awaken: Spiritual Hunger

This is a message by Ps. Alex as we begin our series: Awaken. We live in a time where it’s possible to domesticate God, compartmentalise discipleship, and live a manageable Christian life. This makes God predictable, life comfortable, and the gospel powerless. To entertain this lifestyle is to become what the New Testament calls, “Asleep.” It’s for this reason that Paul writes to the Ephesians, saying, “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you” (Eph. 5:14). If the unfettered drift of the Christian life is to fall asleep (to God, ourselves, one-another, and the world), then we need to be woken up; we need awakening.
