19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
Jesus highlights hear that to be in a relationship with him means that he will enter into the conversation around our lives. This may lead to rebuke, correction and discipline. What a comforting thought that Jesus says this is what it means to be loved and intimate with him. More than that, he highlights that there are moments in our lives where we have shut the door on his voice, silencing His spirit on areas that we don’t want to be corrected or rebuked in.
Where in my life have I shut the voice of the Holy Spirit? When was the last time I opened the door to the corrective love of Christ?
Father, give me the courage to ask and listen earnestly for areas I need you to shape and guide. Amen
