He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was as good as dead (since he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb. unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised.
The promise of God was the foundation of his confidence. This is the beauty of faith. Despite what Abraham’s perspective was or what his natural logical brain would tell him is true (he was old, Sarah was old, etc) this was simply overridden or outweighed by the simple fact that God had given him a promise.
How many promises do I find in the Bible that God has spoken over me? So many!! Do I let my natural circumstances or my logical brain outweigh these promises, or do I follow in the steps of Abraham and trust God at his word simply because he is God and I am not?
Lord grant me faith to believe your word rather than my own worries or circumstances. In your word are so many promises, and I choose to trust you above all. I choose not to lean on my own understanding, but in all my ways acknowledge you and you will guide my steps.
